Staff beat students 6-3.

Match report from Oliver Parker-Brown, Economics teacher and football coach

Staff = 6, Students = 3

Sunday, 17th May saw the third match from the 2014/15 staff versus students football competition at Bellerbys Oxford. This time the staff recorded their first ever win over their younger, healthier, more talented opponents.

The staff team found defending their opponents surprisingly easy and dominated the first half. Early on Tom Clews left Coach Oliver Parker-Brown with a open header close to the goal. Later, John Pyrah scored from barely a metre out. More goals followed including a brilliant goal from Ian Walker.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for the staff as Tom Clews put in some excellent defending but Toby Brown took advantage of some adventurous goal-keeping and scored into an open goal.

The score was 5-0 to the staff at half-time so Coach Parker-Brown decided switched to play for the students. The students were making progress in the second half and Carlos Alifo Do Rosario was awarded a penalty, which he scored. Goals from Rustam Kaloev and Vladislav Arach made the final score a respectable 6-3.
